Volunteer Training: Pathway to Friendship
Over 30 Volunteers participated this training.
This meeting emphasized fostering inclusion, genuine friendships, and addressing ableism. Rachel, Warren, and Sophia shared personal experiences and advice on treating people with disabilities with respect and intentionality. Key takeaways included forming connections through shared interests, avoiding assumptions, and being aware of diverse communication methods. The team discussed the benefits of friendships for both mental and physical health and the need for proactive efforts in building inclusive relationships. Next steps include upcoming iCan Fly events and applying the training concepts in future activities.
